Hello!

I am a Ph.D candidate in Philosophy at the New School for Social Research, with my defense date scheduled for April 2026. I specialize in environmental philosophy, social and political philosophy, and post-Kantian philosophy (esp. Hegel), with a historical focus on philosophies of imagination and a thematic focus on the challenges raised by the ecological crises of our present.

My Ph.D dissertation focuses on the relationship between alternative social imaginaries and the nature of social transformation in the context of the environmental crisis. I examine questions such as: What kinds of imaginaries can reorient our social structures? How can alternative visions of society drive ecopolitical change? And how will these new imaginaries reshape our relationship with the environment? Engaging with the works of Cornelius Castoriadis, as well as recent developments in political ecology, Black environmentalism, and ecofeminism, I argue that the ecological crisis calls for a new understanding of imaginaries as processes of social-ecological niche construction.

As a recipient of a five-year undergraduate scholarship at the Scuola Normale Superiore, I had the chance to study the classics of modern and contemporary European philosophy. I have published articles and book chapters on Hegel, the Frankfurt School of Critical Theory, and topics in aesthetics.  My dissertation on Hegel’s theory of cognition in his Science of Logic and Encyclopaedia was published as a book in 2018.

At the New School, I am the Managing Editor of the Graduate Faculty Philosophy Journal and the online journal Political Concepts. When I am not editing or wrestling with philosophy, you can find me cooking for friends, taking photographs, or playing soccer.
